Chapter 8: Thunder
Liu Qian analyzed that it is very likely that a gaming company used some form of advanced technology to transport players into the game world. He speculated that during the process of being transported into this game world, his body scan mistakenly identified his metallic prosthetic limbs as normal limbs, and after the data became corrupted, it resulted in his current condition
Thus, Liu Qian drank the rainwater he had collected in his hands in one gulp, which finally alleviated his accumulated thirst to some extent. After drinking this handful of water, Liu Qian quickly brought his hands together again to continue collecting more rainwater, so as not to miss this round of rainfall
If he could return to the real world, Liu Qian pondered that the hands and feet he had regrown here might very well disappear again. In that case, his existence would be worthless, so for him now, being trapped in the game world was not necessarily more difficult to accept than returning to the real world.
I do not know what happened to them after their deaths, nor do I know if their failure to log in again is due to fear, or if it is indeed as the previously mentioned frail player said, that dying in the game means true death, which prevents them from logging in again. In any case, Liu Qian has a rather unsettling feeling in his heart
However, very soon Liu Qian found satisfaction as the thunderstorm rapidly approached the square under the impetus of the wind. Large drops of rain came crashing down from the churning dark clouds in the sky. Liu Qian quickly opened his mouth towards the sky, and his hands came together to catch the raindrops falling from above.
Liu Qian quickly covered his ears with his hands to prevent being deafened again by such a close-range thunderclap.
A cold wind, mixed with a hint of chill, blew in from the distance, causing Liu Qian, who was sitting on the billboard, to shiver involuntarily. He instinctively looked in the direction from which the cold wind was blowing and noticed that the lightning, which had originally been on the distant horizon, had now appeared in the sky not far away. It seemed that it would soon shift directly above his head.
The options to exit and to call the GM are all ineffective. Liu Qian contemplates that perhaps the only way to survive and return to the real world is to either kill all the zombies or complete specific tasks
Therefore, he believes that he probably does not need to study how to exit the game and return to the real world; instead, the main focus should be on concentrating on how to survive and leave this square teeming with corpses.
However, Liu Qian's concerns were clearly unnecessary, as soon individual raindrops quickly converged into a torrential downpour, as if countless large basins were continuously pouring down from the sky. Soon, Liu Qian was completely drenched, and his stomach rapidly swelled with fullness, the feeling of thirst having completely vanished; if he continued to drink, he would feel as if he were drowning.
What is meant to come will eventually come
Just as Liu Qian was about to bring the rainwater he had collected to his lips to drink, he suddenly remembered something and quickly looked at his hands... Fortunately, the water falling from the sky was normal rain, not the kind of red rain that had appeared at the beginning of the game
Regardless of what the principle or truth may be, it seems that he has turned misfortune into fortune, regaining his arms and legs in this world overrun by zombies. As long as he can escape his current predicament, his parkour skills and robust physical condition provide him with considerable advantages compared to other players, which appears to increase his chances of survival here
A bright white light pierced through the heavy curtain of rain, dazzling Liu Qian's eyes. Immediately afterward, a thunderous roar erupted in Liu Qian's ears, directly causing his eardrums to be in a state of deafness for several minutes, rendering the sound of the torrential rain indistinct.
Currently, his infection level is indicated by the color green, the hunger level is a shade of green with a hint of orange, while the thirst level has shifted from orange to red. Both cleanliness and health levels are also green. According to Liu Qian's estimation, green should represent normal values. Once these values deviate from the normal standard, they will gradually change from green to red, or even black. If they turn red, he must be cautious, just like the current thirst level.
To his surprise, after entering the game 'Shivering World', his hands and feet returned to his body intact, restoring him to a normal state of being with hands and feet, which could be considered a stroke of luck amidst misfortune
With so many zombies, it is not an easy task to kill them all; therefore, it is likely that one must complete specific tasks to succeed
A few minutes later, the wind grew stronger, and amidst the cold breeze, some extremely fine raindrops began to mix with the * picture * book. Liu Qian opened his mouth towards the direction from which the wind was blowing, hoping to catch some raindrops to quench his internal thirst. However, after opening his mouth, he did not feel the refreshing touch of the rain; instead, the cold wind made it somewhat difficult for him to breathe.
After the thunderclap just now, a dazzling white light began to flash incessantly before Liu Qian's eyes, and the sound of thunder continued to explode around him. Each clap seemed to be closer than the last, and even though Liu Qian covered his ears, each thunderclap felt as if it were striking his heart, causing his heartbeat to quicken increasingly. The sense of fear within Liu Qian also accumulated higher and higher. While sitting on the iron frame of the billboard, Liu Qian closely observed the movements in the square. He noticed that the players who had been killed were mostly devoured by the zombies in the square, leaving only some remnants of bones and dismembered bodies on the ground of the square.
Regardless of the circumstances, those emotionless metallic prosthetics are far inferior to one's original hands and feet. In the real world, Liu Qian has become a disabled person without hands or feet, merged with the * map * book.
"Damn it! That's enough! Stop pouring!" Liu Qian kept wiping the rainwater that was drenching his face, trying to regain his vision. His soaked body began to shiver in the cold wind and rain. If the downpour continued like this, he would eventually freeze to death here.
Liu Qian glanced at his watch again; the options to call the GM and exit the game were still grayed out. The only option available was the character attribute list. However, this attribute list appeared somewhat rudimentary, containing only basic information such as heart rate and body temperature, along with metrics like level, hunger, thirst, fatigue, cleanliness, health, and infection.
Then, these players did not log back into the game again
Liu Qian's heart began to race wildly. Judging from the blinding white light and the thunderous sound that was almost within reach, it was highly likely that the lightning had struck not far from the billboard. If it had been any closer, it might have been attracted to the billboard, and if the lightning had struck the billboard, Liu Qian, who was sitting on it, would surely have been scorched and charred.
